Mr. Martin is a lawyer and finance professional with over 24 years of experience leading the development and financing of IPP and PPP power projects on non and limited recourse basis. He has developed projects for leading global power developers such as AES Corporation as VP of Development in Chile and served as a trusted advisor for utilities, Governments, and large electricity consumers. He also established a successful power sector advisory firm in Chile which developed and sold a 9MW greenfield PV solar project and participated on renewable power development in the US, lately on the refinancing and the development and funding of Walker Mill Dam hydro project and Harris Bridge hydro respectively in Virginia.
Mr. Martin is an expert in regulatory, commercial, and financial aspects of power generation transactions having worked on regulatory and market analysis, contract structuring and negotiation, risk allocation and mitigation, project management, and tender design and implementation as both a consultant and a project development executive. He has had the opportunity to work on projects that span most major power generation technologies (e.g. solar, geothermal, hydropower, and combined cycle gas turbines) as well as energy storage.
During his career, Mr. Martin has managed over $5b in projects at various stages of development, closed $1.4b in non or limited recourse financings, and negotiated more than 1 GW of long-term PPAs. Mr. Martin holds a BA in International Relations from Tulane University, an MBA from George Washington University School of Business and Public Management, and a law degree from George Washington University Law School. He is a native English speaker and has fluency in Spanish.
